Segmental massage

According to Gläser/Dalicho the segmental massage (SM) finds its therapeutic starting point in the tissue changes of the corporal stratums, from the skin to the periosteum, whenever a visceral origin exists. The segmental topography of the skin is known by Head since 1889.

The algetic and segmental signs are shown through the areas of Head, increase in the resistance of the skin, the areas of Mackenzie, increase in muscular tension, maximum points and points of periosteum. The active segmental massage causes a cuti-myo-visceral reflex and reaches through the vegetative filaments a local and visceral hyperaemia.
